Thoughts on Prayer: The Power of Presence

                                                                                    Thoughts on Prayer: The Power of Presence
Did you know that someones mere presence change the atmosphere in a room? The following is a true story: A friend of mine and her husband were attending a conference of notable people in Christianity. They were at a seated dinner having conversation with those at their table. The room was full and loud. The evening portion of the conference was to begin after dinner. (Background info: There was no way to get from one side of the stage to the other from backstage. The quickest alternative was just to cut through the front stage(Marie is that what it’s called?). ) So, someone from backstage needed to do just that: get from one side to the other in the quickest way possible. My friend says no one noticed him at first. He quietly and unassumingly opened the door and walked w/head down across the stage. She noticed something had changed in the atmosphere of the room and, like everyone else, was looking to see what had happened. There was no loud crashing of plates, no testing of the sound system or music, no lights flashing. Just the one man quietly, without fanfare or looking at the crowd going across the stage. She says you could have heard a pin drop by the time Billy Graham got to the other side of the stage and exited out that door. She said it was nothing more than his presence that silenced the room. I learned a lesson in the power of presence when she shared her story. So did our friend, Jeff, when he “listened out” for the Lord this past week. Psalm 16:11 says:
                                                 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
May you know joy and fulfillment just being in His presence this week. Write down how He meets you this week and share it with a few of your friends.
I know it will encourage many.
